Our Appy was a rescue. We have a long driveway(1500 ft off the road) and one morning we looked out to see this guy leading a very lame, skinny horse. Wanna buy a horse he asked. My poor husband was behind me saying don't touch that, the police won't be far behind. Well I bought her! It turned out that he bought the horse for his girlfriend to barrel race and she left, leaving the horse behind. It was winter so we found that she had an infection in her foot and treated that and fattened her up and she became the best trail horse. Carol and I went to the Tyrone farm ride in the spring. We left in the drizzle and didn't get too far before we got drowned. We would have continued but for the thunder and lightening. It was fun as far as we got . We couldn't go on any more because of the bees. Maybe this year.

Wow! That Appy has quite a story!!! Yeah, we got soaked at that Tyrone Farm ride (the first one of the series.. the third was drizzling too). We were actually in the bottom field when lightning struck about 40 feet away.. Luckily no one got hurt, although the horses were very upset (Skip jumped up like a scared cat). If you're ever looking for someone to ride with on those rides, let me know. I'm allergic to bees, too.. but I take a bottle of Benadryl and I'm usually ok

Wow I didn't realize that the lightening got so close. We were headed into the woods when we saw the lightening so we just turned and headed for the trailer. We took the horses back to Carol's and intended to go back and finish the ride after the rain but it never stopped. We went back for the lunch and watched quite a few riders come in who had completed the ride. They were sooo wet. We enjoyed the day in spite of the rain.
