Sorry that I haven't been here. A little about myself - I have 3 horses and I ride Western, mostly trail riding in the fall. All are trained to drive. We sold our dairy farm 2 yrs. ago and I lost my beautiful riding trails along with it. Have to trailer now. DH is not a horse person & friends work so most riding is on weekends only now.

what are your trails like where you ride? How old are your horses? What kind are they? I ride by myself about 99% of the time. DH isn't into horses anymore and my friends work. I work three days a week so I have more time to ride. I'm enjoying the cooler weather now It was SO hot this summer. I have to trailer to ride too but I'm used to it. It depends on what type of trail I want to ride. Trailer ride is anywhere from 15 min. to 30min. Unless I want to go way up in the mountain areas and that's about an hour and a half drive. Don't do that very often. Do you do mostly walking or do you move out -- trotting etc.? I went out today and Windy was a little brat. She poked along going out and when we had to turn around and go back -- oh boy did she want to GOOOO. She wanted to trot out like mad. I told her - NO, not when you want to - you little brat. So, I made her walk until she calmed down and it was my idea to trot - LOL. She's still a little afraid of cows and we kept running into them along the way. She's ok if they are calm but these ones took off at a run when we got closer. I guess they've been chased by horses lately. Welcome to the board -- I'm pretty new myself here.

Driving is so much fun. I used to have a driving pony years ago but I am not brave enough to drive a horse. My pony was a hackney welch X and every time we hooked her up, she would throw herself. We would get her up , rehook her and away we would go. One day she pulled my dad down on top of her(neither was hurt) and that was the last time she did that. It spooked me tho so I stick to riding. We have to trailer here too. There are some great State forests not too far away and the trails there are good riding. I am retirement age so there are quite a few of us oldies around who can ride almost anytime. Hunting season is fast approaching so we will be limited to Sundays and private land. I ride a big, black, Missouri Fox Trotter (Ace) english. That is only because I can't find any other saddle that fits him. Again Welcome.
