After that girl asked me to make her those IDs it really got me thinking. There are so many trail riders, and something could happen to any of those horses. The most bomb proof horse will occasionally spook and if you're riding on open trails would your horse stop if you fell off? I often ride Sienna in an arena and I hit the dirt often enough, but usually it's my fault, not hers. She's at a new boarding facility and even though I was just playing around on her ID, I am going to attach it. When I fall, she seldom goes over a couple steps before she stops to see what the heck is wrong with me, but there are tons of trails at the new place, and since she hasn't been there very long, I'm afraid if she spooked, she wouldn't run off back to the barn, that she might become confused about where she is.
I looked and looked until I could find a set of leather tools small enough to use on these tags. The others I showed were stenciled. This was my first try with them on a piece of rough out leather, and I got the 2 and 5 mixed up and so you can see it's a far from perfect job. But I know which is what now, and that's why I practice with everything first.
I can something this simple for $10.00 and wouldn't you like to know you could protect your horse that cheaply? I can also bling it up, dye it, tool it, whatever you want for a little more, but something like this is ONLY $10.00. And since I do it all by hand from cutting the leather for them to stamping them and making them pretty if you want, I think $10.00 is a steal for trail riding protection.
And I also took a scan of just a few of the things I have I can put on these. Or I can tool a design for you. Contact me here or at canncrossan@myfairpoint.net These are things from blister pearls, to Swarovski garnet rhinestone stars, to vintage swirled milk glass.
