Got a problem here. Two horses living together - one has bumps all over and she's itching and the other one is fine. The only thing I've done different was feed the "itchy" one raspberry leaves. I started the leaves Oct. 15th then started giving her more leaves on Oct. 26th. I rode her last week and noticed some scabs under her mane but didn't think too much about it but it did worry me. The past couple of evenings I have noticed her itching and scratching on everything she can find. She has a good winter coat on and she has a nice coat. I felt all over her and she has scabs and bumps - there are no bugs - it's not a bug problem. I think it's an allergic reaction to the leaves. What do you think? I called the vet and the best advice they could give me was to well... obviously stop the raspberry leaves and to pick up some histamine granules tomorrow for the itching. Would it take that long for a reaction to pop up? Although.... the scabs that are falling off, means that this has been going on for a while. I feel so bad - I'm a bad mom How long before they all go away??

She might have been building up to what you finally saw. If it is an allergic reaction, it won't take long to go away once she is on the histamine. The bumps will go away in a day or two in my experience. You are not a bad mom. How could you know that she was allergic. We only do what we think is best and sometimes we find out it isn't, so we fix it. Hope she is over this quickly.
