My poor Ace. I moved him across the street 3 days ago to my friend's indoor. He is with Apollo and separate from her horses but within sight. This morning I went over to feed and he wouldn't eat his grain and had a cough that started at his toes. Of course he had a temp. 101.9 and flared nostrils with fast breaths. I called Robin, our vet, and as luck would have it she was on her way towards us. Ace has a respiratory infection so he is on antibiotics and banamine to lower the temp. He was acting much better when I left so I think he will recover quickly. I do not like this winter weather. What happened to global warming?

The next morning Apollo was refusing food and shaking. We took his temp. and blanketed him and started him on the medicine also. I can't imagine how they could get something like this. I guess it was the change of barns and the fluctuating temperatures. They are both eating normally and on the mend. What a great start to the new year. I hope all your horses stay healthy.

So sorry to hear your guys are not feeling well. Hopefully this warm weather we are having now will help speed up the recovery process. I know my guys are glad for the break from that super cold. Keep us posted.

Thanks Suzie. The boys are recovering nicely. Deb and I rode on Sun. in the indoor. I rode Ace and he was feeling his oats. I just did the exercises from Larry's program, mostly at a walk but it felt good to ride him. I'm going to ride Apollo tomorrow.
