If you are looking for something to do this winter, you know I’m a big believer in Review and Add Something as the way to progress. The review is where many of us short change the horse. The basics in anything are the foundation. They must be the strongest…. The most solid if we expect what we add to be understood by the horse. The attached document is a review from one of our clinics. I begin each session with my horse, even if it’s a trail ride, by reviewing these basics. Most of you have seen me just hop on and ride over and open the gate from horseback. You might say… hey, you didn’t review the basic pieces. Yes, I did….. from the barn to the gate and by opening and closing that gate I used every piece. You have not seen me riding without at some point asking my horse for all gaits and different speeds within each gait even if it’s just for a half a lap around the arena. These habits are diagnostic as well and the way to cement the foundation. Good habits. Also, I have removed some of the videos from my blog that you may have been using. They are now on my youtube channel. www.youtube.com/channels?q=finalsbackinblack Basic Foundation www.youtube.com/watch?v=27KPPeXHXEk&feature=youtu.be Basic Driving www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U9_8fro4GI&feature=youtu.be Basic Riding www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAs44ErPin4 Carol Always think about what you want..... not want you don't want. Dont try to break a habit...... just create a new one.
