This am I loaded Ace into the trailer and went to my friend Fay's. She lives right next to the railroad bed that goes into Natchaug forest. We wanted to ride the woods trails because the blooming deer flies and horse flies will be out soon. There is a reservoir just up the road with a bridge we have to cross. Ace will follow Velvet so we went that way and continued up to the horse camp. It was cool in the woods and the horses felt good. We encountered one of Fay's neighbors on a chestnut QH and stopped for a short visit. There was one horse trailer at the camp but no one else was around. We dismounted and had drinks at the picnic table there and soon headed back on another woods trail. We had a delightful ride as usual..........Jane

Hi Tuffysmom. Welcome to the site. I haven't had too many people sign on yet but I hope to get some interesting conversations eventually. I try to get out at least every other day but of course life things get in the way. What kind of horse do you have? What kind of riding do you do? I assume that you are a trail rider. Where do you like to ride? Thanks for signing on.......Jane

We have Three Appaloosa's. We trail ride, mostly in Natchaug and Goodwin but we do some light showing too. We recently joined the volunteer horse patrol for the CT Horse Council. We rode at Pachaug state forest on Saturday to get our cetifications. We took Tuffy and Carmello. The weather was beautiful and it was very nice there, it was our first time going there. Everyone was so nice we had a super good time.

I tried out for that when they were 1st setting it on my friend's horse. We went up to the Horse guard barn and did a trail course there. Fay still works with them but my horse has been unsound almost ever since I got him. There are so many great trails there, we keep finding more. I like Goodwins trails also. I am planning to get there before the deer flies come out..........Jane

The farrier is coming this morning to do feet. Then we are going to the horsecamp in Natchaug for a trailride. I hope the weather is as nice as it was yesterday.

How was your ride? If you went out Sat., it had to be hot and sticky. I planned to ride but went to Uxbridge to the tack shop there to get some new riding shoes. I bought a pair at the Equine Affaire but they were too big and I ended up giving them to my daughter. I intended to ride this morning but I wanted to get some lime on my fields since we are going to get a good rain on Mon. I didn't buy enough lime but I got most of the field. Since it is still cool, I'm going out on my trails later. Fay went to Escohag Sat. and somewhere else today. I'll bet she will be tired tonight.............Jane

We did not ride Sunday after the farrier because although it was nice at our house, we were afraid there could be some thunder storms in the state forest. We did ride some around our yard though.

I got lazy and didn't ride Sun. Of course today we have torrential downpours so forget about that. However, now I have to do housework that I have been putting off. And my lime is getting a good soaking so the horses won't have to be locked out of the pasture. This land is so sour that I could lime weekly and never catch up. The temps that are showing on the weather channel are perfect for riding so I am going to take advantage this week. We want to go to Bluff Point before the kids get out of school, so maybe this will be the week. I want to get to Mansfield hollow too. That is a great ride around the reservoir. How is your back? The last time I talked to you it was giving you a lot of trouble. Since I went to the chiropractor, mine is doing quite well............Jane

My back is getting better, I am not 100% better, but it gets better everyday. I will be returning to work soon as well. I am looking forward to being able to go on longer rides and going to the shows again.

So glad about your back! That can stop you cold from doing anything. I found a chiropractor who helped me so I am riding a lot more than I was. Getting a sound horse helped also. Are you going to the Tyrone farm ride this weekend?

Thanks, It has been a long ordeal but finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunatly, I cannot go to Tyrone Farm because I am just not up to that long of a ride yet. I was hoping I could make it but I think it would be too much.

It is better to take the time to heal it otherwise it will take twice as long. There are 2 more rides there and several hunter paces which are also fun. I have never been there so I am looking forward to the ride.

You will have a good time at Tyrone Farm. The people are very nice and the trails are absolutely beautiful. I am hoping I can make at least one of them this year.

I'm looking forward to going there. We rode up there to turn in our entry fees on Tues. What a beautiful farm! It looks like we are going to have good weather. I will fill you in on the particulars.
