Have trouble catching your horse? Here's a quick tip.
Use the "Catching Game" to get your horse to catch you! This works best in a round pen or smaller paddock rather than a huge field, but as you get better at it your horse will run to catch you from any distance!
The concept is simple: when your horse gives you one eye, put a slight amount of pressure on by using a stick or a rope to drive the horse forward. When the horse gives you no eyes or turns his hindquarters to you, put more pressure on, and when he gives you two eyes or looks at you, take all the pressure off, turn around, and walk away. Once the horse realizes that the pressure comes off when he looks at you, he will begin to follow you around. If you practice this enough, your horse will see you coming and run to greet you!
