Is there anyone out there who is looking for someone to ride with? I have a horse trailer and a Missouri fox trotter and I live in north eastern Ct. I am old and only like to go out for 11/2 to 2 hours. My usual partner Carol is deathly allergic to bees so she can't trail ride until Nov. I am retired so I am available most of the time. I like to ride Natchaug, Goodwins, Pauchaug, Mansfield Hollow or anywhere within an hours drive of N. Windham. You can leave me a private e-mail with your phone # and I will get back to you..............Jane

Hi Gina, Welcome to the board. It is good to hear from you. How is the training going? I remember your guy he is beautiful. I would love to get together with you as I ride alone most of the time. This weather has been great , I try to get out at least 3x a week. Goodwins doesn't allow hunting so we could meet there sometimes. Of course Sundays we can go anywhere. I will be in touch. Thanks........Jane

Hi Jane, Daybreak is doing great! He is so much fun to work with! I am mostly doing trails in the mornings. I have been doing small loops on our trails and on a brisk morning ,we were approaching a pond and my sons boat was on the left and the pond on the right and just as he spotted the boat a huge beaver splashed into the pond, well to say the least he spooked and was shaking and I waited till he was calm and tried to get him past the boat, i was able to let him take a couple steps forward at his own pace but he did not want to go past the boat and I did not want to force him, I was happy with what I got and have not been able to take him back since but tomorrow I am riding with friends so we will take that trail. Then we came across a aggressive dog that was on a leash but was lunging and growling at us. got past the dog but had to explain to the dog's owner why my horse was terrified to get past the dog. she was young and I was more worried that she could not hold the dog back, very aggressive! so that was a interesting ride! talk to you soon! Boy, He sounds level-headed. Another horse would have turned tail and left, or at least done a 180. I went over to Carols this am to show a woman that I just met the ground games. She is a newby to horses and bought one that sounds pretty decent. He is 16 and was a park rangers horse so he should be used to anything. That being said, this woman has been taking riding lessons for a short time and the people at the barn convinced her to ride this horse and the best I can figure is she clamped her legs and didn't have the reins, so the horse left at a brisk trot, did a quick turn and dumped her. She is black and blue but ok otherwise. She has decided to work on the ground and take lessons on another very quiet horse and then try riding her horse again. We found her 2 Parelli study groups in her area so she should be able to progress. I am now going out for a last hour ride on Ace because I haven't been able to fit a ride in for a few days. I am so pleased things are going so well for you with Daybreak......Jane

HI Jane, was this not a gorgeous day for a ride? I took Daybreak out in the morning and met up with 3 other riders, a first with Day,he was such a good boy, he was calm and we rode for 2 hours on some pretty rough trails. When it was time to part ways with the other riders, we walked off willlingly, wow,we were in the middle of the woods and we had to go in opposite directions to get home, are all TWH this great or did I really luck out,he is such a joy to be with ! hope you had a great ride! The spotted saddle horses that I have come in contact with seem to have wonderful dispositions. Then there is the fact that he is getting a great start from you. I have seen a lot of TWH that were pretty calm. I guess a lot depends on how they are trained. I also had an enjoyable ride. We rode until after dark and Ace was perfect as always ( I could be a little prejudice ) and we are going out again tonight. Weird how I didn't want a gaited horse and I have been having the best rides ever since I got Ace..........Jane

I will be your riding buddy Jane! All you have to do is come to Charleston and we will be off. As soon as I get Savannah going under saddle I will need someone to ride cow for a security blanket! LOL If I get up there this summer Cow and I will motivate you. If I know when I will be coming we could site out some hunter paces! (Hill toppers of course! Brownie jump, HAHAHA)

I can just see Brownie on a hunt course. She would plow through the jumps slow and steady. We would not be invited back. We are planning our spring and summer rides and clinics already. Our group mostly has new horses so they are anxious to try them on the trails and test out all the work they have been doing to prepare them. I'd love to be in Charleston to help you. Maybe in Feb. I need a lot of work to get in shape for spring.

How could you say that about Cow. She is graceful and petite!
I want to go out on our trails but I might sink in 8 feet of mud. Everything froze last night though so we would be ok today but I don't want to hurt her feeties! Just too cold for me. I am a wimp!
February in nice here. I think I might take some leave because I have so much to burn. You just have to tell me when!
