It is being held at Gold Dust Farm in Rhode Island.
I cannot find any new information about Gold Dust Farm. If anyone knows anything about them, let me know and I'll post it. Thanks

Thanks Suzie. Will you be participating in this series? How did you finally make out with the last?

Hey Jane;
I have not made up my mind if I will be going to this one. There are five in the series and I am not sure if I can make all five. I ended up not going to the other one because of a work scheduling problem and because I missed one I did not go to the rest.

It's not always easy to get to these series in the winter. Do most people make all of them? I would think if you can make half, you can accumulate enough points to place somewhere. Of course there are always the diehards who don't miss any. Well good luck if you choose to go.

You are right it is tough to make it to all of them during the winter. Quite a lot of people do not go to all of them, you are correct you could have enough points to do well without going to all the shows. However, me being the way I am, it is all or nothing. I will not go at all if I can't make all of them. So I still have not decided.

If you decide to go, let us know how you do. Have you been doing any riding in this warm weather? We rode in the indoor last weekend and the ice is gone enough to ride some of the trails behind Deb's barn.

Well I just got home from the first Gymkhana in the series at Goldust. It was super cold out today, but we had a great time. I rode in the novice division and there were five classes. Once Tuffy got settled down he was really good. I got four 2nd places and one 1st. We were reserve champion for the day in the novice division. I got a nice bridle holder and a set of four polo wraps for a prize. I am hoping it is a little warmer for the next one in two weeks. Where did all that nice warm air go?

Good for you! Sounds like you had a great time. Too bad the warm air couldn't have lasted one more day, but today will seem warm when you see the upcoming temps.

Suzie you should sign up for that trail thing they do at the equine affaire. Your horses are really good at the trail classes and I didn't see anything there you couldn't do well. You would have a built in cheering section.

Speed trail? Is that like the classes they sometimes show on RFDtv and they get to do all that cool stuff. Cow is not too agile. I think she would fall over everything! LOL I can't wait until I have to send her over something. That will be a good day for a video camera!

Speed trail is not quite like you see on RFD tv. The extreme cowboy thing is based on horsemanship and time. Speed trail is simply based on the fastest time although it does involve different obstacles, so you do have an easier time if your horse is desensitized a little. I have found a place that has shows and practice days based on the equine affair versatility thing. They are located in West Deerfield, Mass just past North Hampton I think. If it was not the middle of winter I would take Tuffy and Check it out. Oh well, Spring IS coming.

I forgot to mention the RI Horseweighers were there, I got the horses weighed for $10.00 each. They have a portable scale and they go around the the shows and stuff. That is great to know to adjust feed or if you have to give meds. Now I don't have to guess anymore. Tuffy weighed 1039 pounds. They are really nice people. The last picuture in the video is there scale all set up.
